They’ll talk with Denise about the week’s developments, including new/old net neutrality fights about Comcast and Microsoft, patent fever with Facebook counter-suing Yahoo, and Verizon’s efforts to acquire spectrum from a consortium of cable companies. 2011: The Year in Review for Media
2011 was a busy year for speaking and writing. In addition to regular contributions for Forbes and CNET, Larry wrote for a variety of publications and was regularly quoted in the press about important developments in innovation, strategy, and the law. On stories including net neutrality, SOPA and PIPA, and the AT&T/T-Mobile merger, Larry was not only writing but also speaking out in Washington and elsewhere.

Speaking – Larry completed nearly twenty-five speaking engagements during the year at events around the world.
Writing– Larry published nearly fifty articles and op-eds for publications that included CNET, Forbes, The Hill, The BNA Daily Report for Executives, CPI Antitrust Review, Slate, The Orange County Register, The Wall Street Journal’s All Things D, and the San Jose Mercury News.
He also appeared frequently on TV and radio, including nearly fifteen appearances on NPR and PBS programs both nationally and local.
Larry also published two chapters in the ground-breaking book, “The Next Digital Decade: Essays on the Future of the Internet, still available from TechFreedom. (Larry is now Senior Adjunct Fellow with TechFreedom, a technology policy think tank based in Washington.)
Press Interviews– Larry is a regular source for national media on a wide variety of technology topics. Last year, he was quoted in nearly 200 articles and editorials, for publications including Politico, The National Journal, The National Review, AdWeek, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, USA Today, Reason, CIO and Communications Daily.

Larry named to Top 100 Influencers in Social Media
The results are in, and Larry has been named one of the Top 100 Influencers in Social Media, according to Social Technology Review.
In case you were wondering, Larry comes in at #74, just behind The Dalai Lama and just ahead of Tim Tebow.
Larry to speak at State of the Net, Cato Institute events in Washington
Larry will be speaking next week at two important events on Capitol Hill.
At the annual State of the Net conference of the Congressional Internet Caucus, Larry will participate in a discussion about challenges to the media industry posed by the move to cloud computing. SOTN runs Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 17 and 18, 2012. The panel, “The Clouding of Entertainment Media: The Challenges of Giving Consumers What They Want When and Where They Want It!”, takes place on Jan 18th at 9:40 A.M.
On Thursday, Larry will speak on controversial proposed copyright legislation, at an event co-sponsored by the Cato Institute, the Competitive Enterprise Institute and TechFreedom. The event, “Unintended Consequences of the Rogue Website Crackdown,” takes place on Thurs, Jan. 19 at noon. Both events are open to the public; registration is required.
Larry Debates Domain Seizures on PBS Newshour
Larry appeared Tuesday night on the PBS Newshour to debate the latest round of government seizures of domain names as part of a crackdown on unlicensed sports apparel. Debating a lawyer from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Larry repeated his concerns about the legal process being utilized by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. He also discussed serious flaws in two pieces of pending legislation that would expand government and private power to manipulate the Internet.
