Larry in China

Larry was in China earlier this month for the publication of new Mandarin editions of both Big Bang Disruption and The Laws of Disruption.  The books have become instant best-sellers, with over 10,000 copies sold!  Larry and co-author Paul Nunes gave several talks and interviews, visiting Beijing, Qingdao, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.

Larry to testify before Congress on the future of the Internet

Larry will be testifying before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Feb. 25th, 2015, at a hearing on the future of the Internet. The Subcommittee on Technology and Communications is concerned about the impact on technology, innovation and investment of pending action by the Federal Communications Commission, which will transform Internet access into a public utility under a 1930’s law.

The hearing will take place at the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2322, at 10:30.  Live video is available from the Committee’s website.

Upcoming speaking engagements

 

Larry will be in Washington, D.C. the week of Sept. 29, speaking at two policy events open to the public.

On Sept.30th, Larry joins FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel, U.S. Ambassador Karen Kornbluh and others at an event co-sponsored by the Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy and Democracy, A Journal of Ideas for a symposium on Regulating the Digital Economy.  Larry will be discussing his article in the Fall issue of the magazine, “Managing the Big Bang:  The Regulator’s Dilemma.”  The event will be moderated by E.J. Dionne, Jr., columnist for The Washington Post.

On October 1, Larry will be at the National Press Club speaking at an event sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business on “The Open Internet?  Classifying Communications Services.”

Both events are free.  Registration is required.

Larry Moderates Capitol Hill Symposium on Internet Regulation June 11, 2014

On June 11, 2014, Larry will host a symposium on Internet regulation sponsored by the Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy and its Evolution of Regulation and Innovation project.  The event will include comments from Aspen Institute Communications Fellow Blair Levin and former Akami CTO Patrick Gilmore and a panel discussion featuring senior industry and think-tank speakers.

Registration is free.  Lunch will be served.
